We were fortunate to be able to shoot the Melasti celebration in our neighborhood of Sanur.  The Melasti ceremony occurs 3-4 days before Nyepi, the much-discussed “day of silence”.  In short, large processions travel from the village temples to the beach where prayers and offerings are performed.  The entire procession then returns to its neighborhood temple.  The event lasts several hours and is a boon for photographers as the sea of crisp white ceremonial garb clad Balinese of all ages head to the beach.
